Benjamin J.  Durst Sr.
DURST – Benjamin J. Sr., 85, Boswell, died Sept. 4, 2013, at Windber Hospice. Born Jan. 7, 1928, in Neumine, Pa., son of Jack A. and Minnie Mae (Switzer) Durst. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 34 years, Priscilla (Brautigam) Durst, on Oct. 15, 2011; infant granddaughter, Priscilla Taunton; grandson, Charles Boyd; sisters, Mary Brooks and Elva Shirt; brothers, John and William; and son-in-law, Dan Deel. Survived by children, Benjamin J. Durst Jr. (Suzette), Detroit, Mich.; Lisa (Ken) Siemen, Illinois; John L. Durst, Acosta; Howard R. Russell, Ohio; Charles M. Brautigam, Wheeling, W.Va.; Priscilla C. (Henry) Ward, Clarington, Ohio; Becky S. Deel, Grundy, Va.; and Rhonda L. Taunton, New York; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Robert E. Durst, Friedens. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Retired truck driver with more than 40 years of service. Member of Michigan Teamsters Local 299., Detroit; Somerset Post 554 VFW; Somerset Arie 1801 FOE; and AMVETS Post 45, Detroit. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, Pastor Dale Lyzbicki, officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by Somerset County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, Pa. 15963, would be appreciated.
