Life Story for Helene M. Davenport (Lesniak)
DAVENPORT
Helene M. (Lesniak) Davenport, 88, of Somerset, passed away Feb. 7, 2014 at the Meadow View Nursing Center. Born Dec. 17, 1925 in Belltown, Somerset County, daughter of John and Hilda (Leshok) Lesniak. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents Harry and Mary (Skaronsks) Leshok; husband John in 1959; son Allen John Davenport in 1996; brothers, Joseph and Henry Lesniak; sister Henrietta; beloved aunts, Susie Leshok Mellor and Ann Leshok Hardin; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Survived by daughter Florence of Somerset and cousin Catherine Maraugha and her husband Bill of Boswell. Helene graduated from the Somerset High School. She worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad in Philadelphia before moving to Los Angeles, Calif., where she enjoyed the balance of her career as a bookkeeper in plumbing contracting. She graduated from the Lumbeau School of Real Estate in Los Angeles where she also worked part time in real estate. Upon her retirement, Helene moved to Reno, Nev. to be with her family and became involved in property management. She enjoyed helping people, crafts, traveling in her spare time and gardening. Helene loved nature and its beauty as reflected in flowers and birds. She was an avid cook and canner with her strawberry-rhubarb jam entry receiving an award at the Nevada State Fair. Helene had requested no viewing and private interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Ralphton. Arrangements in charge of the Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Boswell.
