Life Story for June Cooper (Stafford)

COOPER – June (Stafford), 99, formerly of Davidsville, passed quietly away April 6, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Cambridge, Mass. The oldest of five, she was born June 7, 1914, in New York, N.Y., to Samuel and Olive (McCune) Stafford. In 1939, she married Richard F. Cooper Sr., owner of FE Cooper Lumber Corp., Johnstown. Together with grace, love and an incredible sense of humor, they raised three children, assorted animals and entertained dear friends. Always deeply interested in people, culture and ideas, June'’s love of life and learning never subsided. Her warmth and laughter could fill a room. Survived by daughters, Judith, married to James F. Beener, Jenner Township, Somerset County; and Susan, married to Americo Andrade, with whom she resided; grandchildren, Kathryn Beener; Josh Beener, and wife, Kara; and Tess Andrade; and great-granddaughter, Geonna. Her son, Richard Jr., who was enriched by June’s strength and optimism and who in turn, enriched other lives immeasurably, died in 2006. Her husband, Richard Sr., a talented photographer, pianist, bridge player, business man and so much more, passed away in 1999. Also preceded in death by parents; sister, Rosemary Maley; and brothers, Gerald, Samuel and Edward. Visitation from 6-8PM Monday, April 28th at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Graveside service 11AM Tuesday at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown with Pastor Wes Yoder presiding. Memorials to United Cerabral Palsy, 119 Jari Drive, Johnstown, Pa. 15904, would be appreciated.
