Life Story for Allen R. Wheeler

Allen R.  Wheeler
WHEELER – Allen R., 79, Jenners, died Nov. 3, 2015, at Windber Hospice. Born Jan. 14, 1936, in Stoystown, son of the late Lester “Banjo” and Helen (Escherich) Wheeler. Survived by wife of 58 years, the former Eva M. Puschnigg; daughters, Holly, married to Chris Kapitan, Jenners; and Wendy, married to Ken Ponczek, Johnstown; and grandsons, Christopher and Haden Kapitan. Brother of Victor, married to Wanda Ream, Jennerstown; Joyce, married to Jim Kennedy, Kantner; Tanis, married to Robert Lepley, Poconos; and Penny, married to Wayne Wiltrout, Friedens. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Retired employee of CVS, Somerset, with 30 years of service. He also worked at the former Highway Market for 23 years. He played for the former Somerset County Baseball and Somerset County Basketball leagues. Lifetime area bowler and bowled professionally for 5 1/2 years. He was inducted into the Johnstown Metropolitan Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2000. He greatly missed time spent with his best bowling and fishing buddy, the late Chuck Reckner. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell.
