GAVEL – Mary (Tulenko), 90, formerly of Acosta, died Nov. 27, 2015, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 1, 1925, in Ralphton, daughter of Michael and Susan (Trusko) Tulenko. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 61 years, Frank P. “Pat” Gavel, who died July 4, 2012; daughter-in-law, Pamela (Hoffman) Gavel; sister, Helen Nixon; and brothers, Michael, John, George, Nick and Joseph. Survived by children, Dennis A. Volchko, Friedens; William F., Acosta; and Lois Baraniak, Jennerstown; grandchildren, Adam, and wife, Genna; Brian, and wife, Crystal; Craig; Tim, and wife, Ann; Amy; Shane, and wife, Jo Marie; and Kristy; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Abigail, Cody and Gavin. Sister of Ann Zadzora, East Lake, Ohio, and Marg Dipre, Willoughby, Ohio. Also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. A 1942 graduate of Somerset High School. An avid bowler and bingo player who was a loyal baseball fan, having played organized ball as a young girl. She especially enjoyed being a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. The family would like to thank all those special people at The Patriot, Somerset, who cared for Mary the last several years. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held Monday evening, Deacon Jay Pyle. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta, the Rev. Msgr. Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant. Memorial contributions may be given to Acosta Volunteer Fire Dept., Box 128, Acosta, Pa. 15520.
