WALKER – Rita A. (Wolf), 86, Jerome, died Feb. 5, 2016, at Golden Living, Meyersdale. Born Jan. 13, 1930, in Pittsburgh, daughter of Alfred and Louise (Pefferman) Wolf. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 49 years, John R. Sr. “Jack,” Oct. 7, 1999; infant grandson, Jeremy Shaulis; two sisters; and one brother. Survived by children, John R. Jr., married to Terri Yuricha, Beaver Falls, and Rita “Dolly,” married to Dale Shaulis, Jerome; grandchildren, John Walker, and wife, Laura; Pamela Walker; Elaine (Shaulis), and husband, Marc Jarvis; and Jason Shaulis, and wife, Kristy; grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Gantz, Isabella Stroscio and Dylan and Sarah Walker; sister, Edna Zunic, Youngstown, Ohio; brother, Malvern, and wife, Barbara, Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was the first female firefighter for Jerome Volunteer Fire Department, in addition to being recording secretary and helping to organize bingo games. She was instrumental in working at and later running the Bread of Life Food Pantry, Hollsopple, in its early days. She also volunteered at the Cambria County Humane Society and St. Vincent de Paul Soup Kitchen. As a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, later St. Anne Catholic Church, she sang in the choir and also sang with the former Johnstown Choraliers and Johnstown Symphony Chorus. At Rita’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. Graveside service at a later date at Maple Spring Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
