Jack M. Hartfiel, 84, Thomasdale, died May 8, 2016 at Laurel View Village, Davidsville. Born July 31, 1931 in Boswell. Son of Harold Hartfiel and Jennie Pauline (Hate) Hartfiel Johnson. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 46 years Sara J. (Clevenger) Hartfiel on May 1, 1997; sister Clara (Johnson) Reese and granddaughter Lindsey Marie Schuster. Survived by daughters Jacqueline Hartfiel married to Dennis Bender, Cleveland, OH; Melody Hartfiel, Thomasdale; Holly married to Dale Carr, Baltimore, MD and Melissa married to David Egts, Stow, OH. Grandchildren Jessica married to Keith Dailey, Greensburg; Sara and Grace Hartfiel-Carr, Baltimore, MD and Lauren Egts, Stow, OH; great grandchildren Lindsi and Cameron Dailey; brother George Johnson and wife Peggy, Gettysburg and best friend Gerry Thomas, Thomasdale. A 1948 graduate of Boswell High School. A retired employee of Bethlehem Steel, Corp., Johnstown and was owner/operator of J.M Hartfiel Roofing, Inc. A member of Conemaugh Township Historical Society. He was a well-known wood working artist and was very knowledgeable about local history. Jack enjoyed water skiing, hunting, riding his scooter and watching the races at Jennerstown Speedway. He was also a very loving father and grandfather. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell. A memorial service will be held 11AM Friday at Laurel View Village Chapel with Pastor Jeffrey Bassette presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery.
