Obituary for Lewis J. Neri

NERI – Lewis J., 95, a resident of Jennerstown for over 60 years, died peacefully November 13, 2016 at Rest Assured Residential Living, Meyersdale. Born November 18, 1920 in Coal Junction. Son of Antonio and Maria (Bignardi) Neri. Preceded in death by parents; wife Esther (Pocalana) Neri in 1985; sisters Angie, Givannina, Pearl, Stella and Jean; brothers Kelly, George, Dwight and Tony; father and mother-in-law Ceasar and Mary Pocalana; sisters-in-law Helen and Elaine Neri, Louise Machick and Bruna Pocalana and brothers-in-law Jerry Oldren, Henry Copolla, Myron Machick, Nick Brescia and Roy Thompson. Survived by sons James and wife Rebecca, Newark, OH and Robert and wife Carol, St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren Tracy married to Kelli Handy, Idaho Falls, ID; Brianne married to Craig Howard, Atlanta, GA and Josh Neri, Miami, FL; 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson; sisters-in-law Annabelle Neri, Gray and Joyce Neri, Coal Junction and numerous nieces and nephews. Lewis proudly served in the U.S. Army from June 1942 to September 1945, attaining the rank of Tech 5th Grade and serving in the North African and European Theaters. Following the war, he married Esther in June, 1946. His working years included local coal mines and as a skilled stone mason prior to retirement in 1985. Member of All Saints Parish. Viewing will be held from 5-8PM Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 10AM Thursday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. John Voytek, OFM Conv., celebrant. Committal Mt.
