BERKEY - Gordon J., 95, Brownstown, formerly of Jenner Township, Somerset County, died January 31, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born August 7, 1921 in Jenner Township. Son of George S. and Cora E. (Bowden) Berkey. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 38 years the former Ann F. Brendel on December 24, 2008 and brothers Kenneth and Paul. Survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. A 1939 graduate of Ferndale High School. He was a former farmer and retired laborer for Frank M. Sheesley Co. Member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Johnstown and Johnstown Laborers Union, Local 910. Gordon enjoyed building model airplanes and model railroads, Civil War history and reading. Viewing from 11AM until time of service at 1PM Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville with Pastor Susan Mentzer presiding.
