MURRAY - Emma E. (Kaufman), 100, Jerome, died peacefully March 15, 2017 at Church of the Brethren Home, Windber. Born April 28, 1916 in Davidsville. Daughter of Hiram and Mary (Blough) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; husband Telford C. “Ted” on June 8, 1987; granddaughter Tammy Lynne Ravenscraft; sisters Alma Griffiths, Frances Cavalati and Miriam Jackson and brothers Galen and John Kaufman. Survived by daughter Joanne married to Thomas Ravenscraft, Davidsville; granddaughters Vicki married to Mark Vann, Hollsopple and Terri married to Dale Lehman, Boswell; great granddaughters Katie, Kelly and Kelsey Vann; special nieces Donna (Murray) Dunwiddee, Massachusetts and Denise (Murray) Hukriede, Minnesota and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of the Hiram Kaufman family. A 1933 graduate of Ferndale High School. A lifelong active member of Tire Hill Church of the Brethren. A volunteer at St. Francis Caring and Sharing for 24 years. She worked with her husband making and painting wood crafts and furniture following his injury in a coal mining accident in 1940. She and Ted were married for 53 years at the time of his death and she lived in her house in Jerome for 77 years. Emma worked many jobs in her lifetime, but retired from Cambria Chair Factory after 28 years. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. Emma’s family would like to thank her church family for all the caring and kindness shown to her. She truly loved her church and church family. A special thanks to Lois McGee, Ted and Jean Carrico and neighbors, the Randy Hauger family. Also a special thank you to the staff at the Church of the Brethren Home for their excellent care, comfort and peace they provided in her final days. Viewing from 2-7PM Sunday and 10-11AM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a service will be held 11AM Monday with Rev. Frank Young presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery.
