Floyd  W.  Shaffer Sr.
SHAFFER - Floyd W., Sr., 87,Hooversville, peacefully went home to be with the Lord April 13, 2017 at Windber Hospice. Born April 9, 1930 in Indiana County. Son of Lloyd and Grace (Blough) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; sisters Rachael Miller and Ruby Berkebile and brothers Clair and Ralph Shaffer. Survived by loving wife of 67 years Doris I. (Holsopple) Shaffer; sons Dwight W., Boswell; Marvin W. and friend Doug Eicher, Hooversville; Richard A. married to Gloria (Edmonson), Martins Ferry, OH and Floyd, Jr. married to Rebecca (Kister), Hollsopple; grandchildren Dwight Patrick Shaffer, Jessica married to Bradley Naugle, Christopher Shaffer, Erin married to Alan Miller, Corey Shaffer, Michael Mackanos and Emily Gavel; great-grandchildren Katie and Joshua Shaffer, Allison, Shelby and Maggie Naugle, Bruston Shaffer, Alexis Whipkey, Zachary Miller, Ariana Shaffer and Harper Mackanos; adopted grandchild Kendra Hunter; brothers Melvin and wife Thelma, Benscreek; Merle and wife Lois, Hollsopple and Lloyd, Jr. and wife Lois, Delaware; sisters Eva married to Roy Manges, Arizona and Thelma married to Charles Tyler, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. At age 16 Floyd left home and went to live with the Joseph Johns family in Davidsville. He was employed by former Swank’s Refactory, Johnstown for 30 years and Emglo Air Compressors, Richland for 14 years before retiring. While working each of those jobs, Floyd was also a self-employed farmer who was happiest on his tractor. Member of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren, Hollsopple where he served on the Cemetery Board and Trustees Commission. He loved his Lord and Savior and his family. He enjoyed reading his Bible, farming, square dancing, camping, boating, water skiing and antique tractor shows, where he proudly acquired many first place metals. Floyd especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was always smiling and made friends with every person he met throughout his lifetime and was loved by many! Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Tuesday at Maple Spring Church with Rev.
