Obituary for Oliver L. Ewing

Oliver L.  Ewing
EWING – Oliver L., 76, Jerome, passed away May 11, 2017 at Westmont Woods. Born August 13, 1940 in Johnstown. Son of Oliver L. and Cora (Emerick) Ewing. Preceded in death by parents; wife Beverly O. (Williams) Ewing on August 24, 1993; daughter Felicia; brothers Robert E. and Lewis V., brother-in-law Charles Balogh and sisters-in-law Barbara Ewing and Hazel Ewing. Survived by sisters Evelyn Balogh, Tarpon Springs, FL and Patricia married to Ed Gowarty, Jerome; brother Donald Ewing, Jerome; sister-in-law Lucy Ewing, Jerome and numerous nieces and nephews. Oliver served his country as a U.S. Army Specialist from 1960-1963. He then served numerous assignments both domestically and abroad with the CIA until his retirement. During his tenure with the CIA he received many citations for his accomplishments including one from former President Jimmy Carter. After retirement, he served as treasurer of the Jerome Post 802 American Legion for several years. He was also an active member of the VFW, Polish Falcons and Elks. Friends received from 2PM until time of service 3PM Saturday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville with Rev. David Streets presiding. Donations in Oliver’s memory may be sent to West Hills Community Church, 2301 Sunshine Ave., Johnstown, PA 15905. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery with military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard.
