David C.  Hammer
HAMMER - David C., 81, Boswell, died June 12, 2017 at home. Born June 26, 1935 in Johnstown. Son of David and Mildred (Gorge) Hammer. Preceded in death by parents, granddaughter Danika, brother Duane and sister Nancy Sheaffer. Survived by wife Donna (Saylor), Boswell; children Carol, married to Robert Williamson, Texas, Paul and companion Kirsten Thomas, at home, Susan Wetzel, Maryland, and David at home; grandsons Lawrence Hammer and Michael Williamson; sister Mona Hammer, Somerset. Veteran of the U.S. Army. Member of Centennial United Methodist Church and Boswell Post #461 American Legion. Graduate of former J.B.J. High School class of 1954. Retired from Johnstown Bethlehem Steel Mill. He was also school bus driver for Westmont and Conemaugh Twp. school districts. He was a trustee of the church, and was active in many capacities there, doing various jobs for over 50 years. He also delivered for Meals on Wheels in the Boswell area. He and Donna observed their 54th wedding anniversary on May 4, 2017. Friends received from 3-7PM Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Saturday at Centennial United Methodist Church. Rev. David B. Bowman officiating. Interment Mt. Zion Cemetery.
