LUBAS – John, 91, Tire Hill, died July 12, 2017 at Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg. Born February 17, 1926 in Johnstown. Son of Jacob and Mary (Jodlowska) Lubas. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Bernard, Joseph and Walerian Lubas; sisters Maria Buraga and Louise Kozielec and son-in-law James Gruca. Survived by wife of 71 years Anna Lea (Hoffman) Lubas; daughters Judith Gruca, Johnstown and Barbara married to Irvin “Skip” Hobba, Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren Jennifer married to Ryan Jaso, Sarasota, FL; Michael J. Gruca, Mars and Jessica married to John Ziller, Oswego, IL; great grandchildren Grace Ann Ziller, Bryce Irvin Ziller and Jack Ryan Jaso; sisters Janet Pfender, Drumore, PA and Helen Taylor, Lincoln, CA; brother Jacob “Bud” Lubas, Hollsopple; brother-in-law of Willard Hoffman, Hollsopple and Jean married to John McGowan, Stephens City, VA. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A US Army veteran of WWII. After returning from the Army, he married Anna Lea in 1946 in Cumberland, MD. John worked at James Gerber TV in Hornerstown and Bethlehem Steel Car Shop for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, polka music, cowboy songs, model trains and spending time with family and friends at the cabin in Maryland and at “Buddies”. Member of NRA and VFW in Maryland. “Rest in peace, with those we have all missed whom have gone before us.” Viewing from noon until time of service 1PM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville with Rev. Fr. John Voytek, OFM Conv. presiding. Interment Custer Cemetery, Hollsopple. Donations in John’s memory may be sent to Alzheimers Association, 317 Power St., Johnstown, PA 15906.
