Obituary for Karen E. Shaulis

SHAULIS – Karen E., 63, Hollsopple, passed away from a broken heart on September 9, 2017 at her home. She was born March 25, 1954 in Johnstown. Preceded in death by husband of 43 years Roger G. Shaulis on February 10, 2017 and father-in-law Paul A. Shaulis, Sr. Survived by sons Justin, New York City; Ryan and wife Danielle, Altoona and Joshua and wife Christine, Windber; grandchildren Aidan, Cole and Kayla; mother-in-law Anna Mae Shaulis, Davidsville; brother Galen and wife Mary, Scranton and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Also survived by her parents and a brother and sister-in-law. A 1972 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School where she met the love of her life, Roger, or as she called him “Dolly”. Also a 2000 graduate of Pennsylvania Academy of Cosmetology. Member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Somerset. Karen was a loving wife, mother, “Grammy” and ”Mimi” who knew how to make a house a home. She would often tell her grandchildren, “I love you a bushel and a peck and hug around the neck”. Her words of encouragement will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers, feeding and watching her birds, quilting, scrapbooking and photography. Karen was also an accomplished pianist and vocalist and had a strong faith in the Lord. We now know she is the loving arms of her husband Roger. Viewing from 4-8PM Wednesday and from 10AM until time of service 11AM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery, Hollsopple.
