Obituary for Lloyd J. "Jim" Bittner Jr.

BITTNER, Jr. – Lloyd J. “Jim”, 84, Country Manor Living, Jerome, formerly of Jennerstown, died June 19, 2018 at The Patriot, Somerset. Born September 20, 1933 in Windber. Son of Lloyd J., Sr. and Beatrice F. (Dollard) Bittner. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 61 years Lois A. (Gombita) Bittner on July 17, 2016; son James L. Bittner; grandson Ryan James Kinley and sister Dorothy Kendell. Survived by children Brian married to Marjorie (Keim) Bittner, Stoystown; Barbara Bittner, New Smyrna, FL and Mark Bittner, Jennerstown; grandchildren Brandon, Ashley, Jeffrey, Benjamin and Michael; great grandchildren Margo and Ona; sisters Joanne Trayers, Virginia and Nancy Baer, Florida; brother Michael Bittner and wife Barbara, Boswell; brother-in-law Richard Gombita, California; sisters-in-law Pat Gombita, Somerset and Judy Gombita, Irwin; special friend Rosalie Gary, Boswell and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1951 graduate of JBJ Joint High School, Boswell. He also attended Gettysburg College. He was employed in the family business, Bittner Tire Service of Jennerstown and later was Owner/Operator of Bittner Trucking of Jennerstown. Member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Somerset. Former member of Jennerstown Borough Council and Jennerstown Fire Department. Jim was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. He also enjoyed hunting and watching westerns on television. Family will receive friends from 12:30PM until time of Funeral Mass 1PM Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Somerset with Rev. Fr. Daniel O’Neill, Celebrant. Committal Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be sent to St. Peter’s School, 433 W. Church St., Somerset, PA 15501.
