Ernest M.  Alwine
ALWINE – Ernest M., 79, Davidsville, passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 25, 2016. Born June 25, 1936, in Windber, son of Walter L. and Katie (Stayrook) Alwine. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Paul Alwine; sister, Catherine Miller; and nephews, Larry and Gary Alwine and Eugene Mishler. Survived by wife of 58 years, Emma M. (Yoder) Alwine; and children, Evonne, married to Paul “Pete” Spory, Boswell; Ernest M. Alwine Jr., Davidsville; and Eugene M. Alwine, Hooversville. Loving Pap-Pap to Emily, married to Adam Rudderow, Monrovia, Md.; Megan Spory, Boswell; and Jordyn Alwine, Davidsville. Also survived by sister, Esther M., married to W. Duane Mishler, Hartville, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He attended Johnstown Mennonite School. Former dairy farmer and school bus contractor for Conemaugh Township School District. Owner of Ernie’s Transport Service, Courier for American Red Cross Alleghenies Region. Member of Kaufman Mennonite Church, Davidsville, where he was a former trustee and member of church council. The family would like to thank Windber Hospice for all their kindness and compassion. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kaufman Mennonite Church, Pastor Keith Yoder and Pastor Wes Yoder, presiding. Interment, Kaufman Cemetery. Arrangements by Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Davidsville.
