CARPENTER – Josephine I. “Jo” (Gowarty), 97, Jenner Crossroads, died October 15, 2016. Born November 2, 1918 in Bedford County. Daughter of Michael and Pearl (Figard) Gowarty. Preceded in death by parents, husband Gerald H. on September 1, 1977, beloved grandson Ryann L. McVicker, sister Blanche Dodson and her husband Chester and brothers John and his wife Helen, Robert and his wife Helen and Arthur and his wife Jennie. Survived by children Gerald E. married to Betty Gerney and Robert G. married to LaRue Telenko, both of Friedens; Linda married to Neil “Chip” McVicker, Ralphton Heights and Gary married to Theresa Soha, Jenner Crossroads; brother Kenneth Gowarty and wife Nancy Donia, Jenners; grandchildren Gerald “Punk” (Michele) Carpenter, Barry Carpenter, Lynette (Rob) Hall, Deanna (DWayne) Weidner, Robert (Marcy) McVicker, Raquel (David) McVicker-Trevarrow, Michelle widow of Gary Kaltenbaugh, Kristie (Derick) Berkebile and Jessica Carpenter; great-grandchildren Casey and Zack Carpenter, Austin Hall, Abigail and Allison Weidner, Britney and Elle McVicker, Jenna (John) Hay, Bryan Weigle and Connor and Carter Berkebile and great-great grandchildren Elija and Brantley Ryann McVicker and Brayden, Landen and Evyin Hay. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown and longtime supporter of the UMWA. Jo enjoyed traveling to Florida, bus trips to PTL and numerous trips to Ohio with her Longaberger basket buddies. Viewing from 4-7PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Wednesday at Laurel Trinity Church with Pastor Robert G. Kaltenbaugh and Pastor Cecil Lohr presiding. Interment Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
