Cyril B. "Buddy"  Engbert Jr.
ENGBERT – Cyril B. Jr., “Buddy”, 86, Davidsville, died June 12, 2017 at Windber Hospice. Born February 17, 1931 in Johnstown. Son of Cyril B., Sr. and Margaret (Beiter) Engbert. Preceded in death by parents, infant daughters Ann Marie and Faith Ann Engbert and sister Rita Dunegan. Survived by loving wife of 58 years Anna Marie (Cronin) Engbert; son Joseph C. Engbert; grandchildren Heather married to Brian Rush, Holley Engbert and Joseph Engbert, Jr. and wife Kate; sisters Margaret Mary Case, Emma married to John Frieko, Josephine married to Raymond Hennessy and Theresa married to Jim Rovan and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. A U.S. veteran of the Korean War where he served with Army Intelligence. He retired after 32 years of service with I.B.M. in Washington, DC where he worked in the White House in the John F. Kennedy through the George H. W. Bush administrations. A member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville for 26 years and a former member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Geistown. A 4th Degree member of Assembly 954 Knights of Columbus, Johnstown where he served as Grand Knight. Also a former member of the American Legion in Maryland. He enjoyed taking care of his home and his little dog Max. Buddy will be remembered as a caring, loving and thoughtful person. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral Mass 10AM Thursday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Geistown with Fr. David S. Peles celebrant. Committal St. Joseph Mausoleum, Geistown with military honors by Menoher Post 155, VFW. Donations may be given in the form of a Mass or to Windber Hospice, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963.
