Obituary for Mary Jane "Janie" Shelko (Lepley)

SHELKO – Mary Jane “Janie” (Lepley), 71, Johnstown, passed away March 14, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born April 29, 1946 in Baker Whitely. Daughter of Herman and Anna Mae (Gracie) Lepley. Preceded in death by parents, infant brother Roger, sister Louise Oakler and brother Donald Lepley. Survived by husband of nearly 55 years David R. Shelko; children David Shelko, Jr., Kinsman, OH and Michael and Lesley Shelko, both at home; brother Robert married to Tanis (Wheeler) Lepley, Muncy and numerous nieces and nephews. She attended J.B.J. Joint High School, Boswell and married David on April 2, 1962. Because David served in the military, they lived in many different locations over the years including Colorado Springs, CO where Janie worked for Current Inc. from 1980-1983 and Deluxe Corp. from 1983-2005. They also lived in Oklahoma, Germany, California and Ohio. They then moved back to Pennsylvania in March of 2015. A member of First Baptist Church, Johnstown. Janie loved dogs and cats and had many throughout the years. She enjoyed doing things around the house, both in and out, and was a very good baker. She took great pride in keeping things neat and clean. She was a wonderful wife, partner, mother friend and caretaker. Janie and David had 55 years of many wonderful memories. Friends received from 10AM until time of service 11AM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell with Pastor Bob Parker presiding.
