MAURER – Jeffrey Jeremiah, 39, Boswell, passed away unexpectedly July 2, 2018 at his home. Born March 27, 1979 in Johnstown. Son of Christopher and Diane (Matse) Maurer, Boswell. Preceded in death by grandparents Betty Ann (Varney) Maurer and George “PapPap” and JoAnne “Nana” (Oaks) Matse. In addition to his parents, he is survived by grandfather B.J. Maurer, Jr., Davidsville; brother Timothy George married to Danielle (Stahl) Maurer, Bakersville; cherished niece Gabrielle Maurer; aunts and uncles Connie (Matse) married to Frank Bendick, Boswell; Jeannie (Matse) Miller, Somerset; Ron Matse of Jerome and his friend Kelly; Susan (Maurer) married to Craig Murray, Somerset; Michael Maurer married to Ladelle (Folton), Boswell and Matthew Maurer married to Lisa (Svonavec), Hollsopple and numerous cousins and other relatives. Jeff, who was a Catholic by faith, was a 1997 graduate of North Star High School where he excelled in football, wrestling and baseball and earned the nickname “Big Cat”. He attended I.U.P. and was a graduate of St. Vincent College, Latrobe. He was the Sports Editor for the Somerset Daily American and a Caddie for Laurel Valley Golf Club, Ligonier. Jeff was an avid sports fan who enjoyed covering local and national sporting events for the Daily American, golfing and watching the Steelers and Pirates. Viewing from 2-8PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell where a vigil service will be held 2PM Sunday. Funeral Mass 11AM Monday at All Saints Catholic Church, Boswell with Rev. Fr. John Voytek, OFM Conv. Celebrant. Committal St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell.
