Ronald E.  Swank
SWANK - Ronald E., 72, Hollsopple, died July 25, 2018 at Hollidaysburg Veteran’s Home. Born October 26, 1945 in Somerset. Son of Ray E. and Louvenia E. (Adams) Swank. Preceded in death by parents and brother Phillip Swank. Survived by wife of 52 years Judy E. (Thomas) Swank; children Michael R. married to Laura (Duncan), Boswell; Wendy S. married to Edmund Elko, Katy, TX and Gunnery Sgt. Bradley D., USMC retired, married to Lavonne (Bailey), Woodstock, VA; grandchildren Larissa married to Mark Szafranski, Emily, David, Mary, Hannah and Sarah Swank; Alex, Demetrius, Max and Nicholas Elko and Gwen Swank; sisters-in-law Amy (Shaulis) Swank, Willington, CT; Jeannie (Thomas) married to Doug Cober, Hollsopple and Janette (Thomas) married to Michael Rubin, Pawtucket, RI; uncles Robert Swank, Berlin and Lloyd married to Elaine (Kimmel) Swank, Berlin; aunt Alice (Swank) married to Walter Stahl, Glencoe and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A 1963 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam War. Former Data Processing Manager for Data Consultants, Westmont; Cambria Equipment, Richland and Stephens Engineering, Gaithersburg, MD. Following his car accident in 1990, Ron started an electronics repair business named Ron’s Doghouse Electronics. Member of Benscreek Lutheran Church where he served on the church council. Founder of the Laurel Highlands Young Marines where he served as Commandant for several years. Member and former Commandant for Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League 287. Ron enjoyed hunting, woodworking and doing ceramics. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Friends received from 4-8PM Friday, August 3rd at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Memorial service 10AM Saturday, August 4th at Benscreek Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Adams presiding. Interment Thomas Mennonite Cemetery with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League 287 Ritual Team.
