WEAVER-GEARHART - Ethelmae (Cramer), 89, Salix, formerly of Soap Hollow, died October 26, 2018 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born January 17, 1929 in Johnstown. Daughter of Alvah and Angie (Rodgers) Cramer. Preceded in death by parents; first loving husband of 50 years Vernon H. Gearhart; sister Ruth Foltz and brother Rodger Cramer. Survived by loving husband of 15 years Donald E. Weaver; daughters Kathleen (Ralph) Alberti and Joy (Dave) Hess and son Dave Gearhart and friend Pat Turney; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson and step-children Kathy Kerschman and family and Kenneth Weaver and family. A 1947 graduate of Richland High School. Beloved 60-year member of St. David's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Davidsville. She was currently attending Bethel United Methodist Church, Salix. ln addition to an active church life, Ethelmae enjoyed working on the family farm for more than 50 years where she hosted many annual "Gearhart Family Reunions". She was a longtime leader in the Somerset County 4-H program and YWCA. She also enjoyed canning, sewing and tending to her orchard and gardens. Ethelmae’s adventurous spirit lead her on travels like driving to the Arctic Circle, whitewater rafting through the Grand Canyon and taking a rugged cruise up the Amazon River. She also vacationed in all 50 states, spent many winters in Florida and completed a walking tour of her family's homeland of Wales. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday, November 1 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. A funeral service will be held 11AM Friday, November 2 at St. David’s Church, Davidsville with Rev. Larry C. Hoover presiding. There will be no viewing at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ethelmae’s memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the USO or Wounded Warriors.
