Obituary for Guido A. Zambotti

ZAMBOTTI – Guido A., 98, Davidsville, died December 8, 2018 at Windber Hospice. Born May 14, 1920 in Aultman, PA. Son of Ben and Rose (Calvetti) Zambotti. Preceded in death by parents; daughter Barbara Mallin; brother Louis and sister Tina Rusiecki. Survived by wife of 73 years Anna M. (Morelli) Zambotti whom he married on October 20, 1945; son Joseph married to former Sandra (Piper), Johnstown; son-in-law Raemon Mallin, Ocean, NJ; grandchildren Michael Zambotti (Johanna Roebas); David Zambotti (Melinda Dorian); Jason Zambotti (Lauren Russo); Andrew Mallin (Kelly); Jeremy Mallin (Kaleigh); great-grandchildren Sophia, Kacie, Kaitlin, Benjamin, Madeline, Lila and Jacob and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. A U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was an autobody repairman having worked for himself and several other employers. Charter member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Benscreek where he served in the choir, as cantor, eucharistic minister and lector. Member of St. Andrew’s Knights of Columbus Council 11308, Third Degree. He was an avid musician, playing the accordion and singing. A member of the Johnstown Musical Society Local 41 and American Federation of Musicians. He performed at Del Grosso Amusement Park in Tipton for the Italian Food Heritage Festival until he was 91 years old, playing his accordion and singing Italian songs. In 2007, he was presented the John Monti Award by the Italian Heritage Society for promoting Italian music. He also enjoyed gardening, especially geraniums, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a vigil for the deceased will be held 2PM Tuesday. Funeral Mass 11AM Wednesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Angelo Patti, celebrant. Committal Grandview Mausoleum with military honors.
