Obituary for Donald Ray Blough Sr.

BLOUGH – Donald Ray, Sr., 87, Davidsville, passed away February 15, 2019 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born June 11, 1931in Grazier. Son of George Lambert, Jr. and Mary (Blough) Miller. He was adopted and raised by his maternal grandparents Samuel and Lydia (Eash) Blough. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, infant daughter Mary, son Donald Blough, Jr., 7 brothers and 4 sisters. Survived by loving wife of 66 years Mary C. (Burkhardt) Blough; children Joann married to Rick Poznanski, Dianna married to Mark Fabrizio and Michael Blough; adoring grandchildren Eric and Josh Fabrizio and Adam Poznanski and wife Allison; special great-grandson Antonio Fabrizio; sisters Mary Carolus, Jane Jeffreys, Bernice Gaunt and Caroline married to Henry Gaunt; brother Ray Miller and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family appreciates all the help from Don’s wonderful neighbors and friends Greg Stock, Bill Andrews and Jim Baca. Don enjoyed spending time with his family and teaching them so much about life and faith. His grandchildren loved their talks with their Pap and the lessons he taught them. He was a retired employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown with 33 years of service. He served in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the US Army and never boasted about the Bronze Star he received. He was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville where he served as an usher and a member of the St. Maximilian Kolbe Council 8979 Knights of Columbus. He worked many hours at the church with his two best friends, John Senuta and John Fusina. His faith in God has been an inspiration to his family and will help them through this difficult time. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Tracy and the caring staff at Conemaugh Palliative Care and the staff at Laurel View Village. May God bless everyone who has touched his life, both in the past and most recently. Viewing from 2-6PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a vigil for the deceased will be held 2PM Sunday. Funeral Mass 10AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Peter Crowe, Celebrant. Committal Grandview Mausoleum with military honors by Somerset County Honor Guard.
