GAUDLIP – Ella Mae (Eckenrode), 85, Johnstown, formerly of Jerome, died March 4, 2019 at her home. Born October 5, 1933 in Jerome. Daughter of Earl and Anna (Bracken) Eckenrode. Preceded in death by parents; mother and father-in-law Joseph and Catherine Gaudlip; brother Patrick Eckenrode; sister Emma Shaulis; sister-in-law Alberta Smith and brother-in-law Joseph Gaudlip, Jr. Survived by husband David W., Sr.; sons David, Jr. married to Rhonda (Yoder), Craig married to Lisa (Schiffhauer) and Darrin married to Cathy (Marker); daughter Andrea married to Randy Roberts; grandchildren Alicia, Brock, Adam (Barb), Nicole (Vinny) and Amber Gaudlip, Derek (Stephanie), Josh (Flori) and Nicholas (Carly) Szala and Elizabeth Budzina; great grandchildren Austin and Logan Wienand, Kinsleigh Gaudlip and Amelia Dodson; sister Shirley married to Michael Budzina and brothers and sisters-in-law Jack (Verna) Gaudlip, Kathleen Berkey, James (Mary Ann) Gaudlip and Barbara (Eugene) Szymanski. A 1952 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Retired employee of former Dorman & Hoffman Garment Factories. A volunteer for Arbutus Park Manor Retirement Community and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Lilly. Ella loved her family and the times they spent together. She liked teaching her grandchildren ornery phrases and jokes. She also enjoyed writing poetry, baking, decorating cakes, reading and playing cards. She spent every day sitting beside her husband, her true love of 64 years, holding hands and being together. Friends received from 4-7PM Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. A private service will be held Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ella’s memory may be sent St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital by calling 1-800-873-6983.
