COOPER – Mark A. “Coop”, 61, Lehman Acres, Jerome, died unexpectedly April 26, 2019 in Johnstown. Born December 23, 1957 in Johnstown. Son of John R. and Myralene M. (Fritz) Cooper. Preceded in death by his father and father-in-law Martin J. Korchnak. Survived by his mother, wife of 38 years Alissa B. (Korchnak) Cooper, son Dr. Ford Cooper and wife Lindsay, daughter Captain Abigail Cooper, his “Peanut” granddaughter Quinn, sisters Debra Oster and Becky married to Bob Hasse, brother Jack who was his weekend buddy, nieces and a nephew who always called him Mark-O, mother-in-law Patricia Korchnak and numerous aunts and cousins whom he always enjoyed visiting. A 1975 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Mark was employed at Atlantic Broadband for 19 years as a Maintenance Tech. He was the keeper of the gate and the morning bad coffee barista for his work family. Coop also liked talking about his racing days with his Emglo friends and making a little noise on his lunch hour. He also loved to share stories of his Boss 429 and no matter what he told everyone he sold the Boss before he ever met A.B. He enjoyed relaxing at night watching the Velocity Channel on TV. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle back in the day when he would meet his uncle Tom and ride 150 miles on a weekend. On Tuesday nights in the summer you could find Coop tossing shoes at the Jerome Polish Falcons and on Saturdays he and Jack would belly up to the bar for some guy time. Anyone who drove past our home knew he was a man who took pride in his yard, (apologies to the neighbors for the 8AM mowings). He loved the neighborhood he lived in and thought of all his neighbors as family. When you drive through the “hood” now the garage will be quiet. No more Outlaw Country blaring from the boom box. So, in the next few days, he would love it if everyone would raise a crap beer (Keystone Light) and drink to your favorite Coop memory. He always said he was a simple man and didn’t require a lot to make him happy; he had kids who loved him, his best buddy A.B. and a roof over his head, he was blessed. And as Quinn would tell Pappy “Bye, love you too much.” Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8PM Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a service will be held 1PM Wednesday with Rev.
