STERN – Herbert E., 89, formerly of Jenner Crossroads, died August 22, 2019 at The Patriot, Somerset. Born March 22, 1930 in Stoystown. Son of Earl L., Sr. and Viola M. (Hockensmith) Stern. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 64 years Martha E. (Rose) Stern on August 2, 2013, grandson Michael M. Tressler, brothers Ben, Jack, William, Earl and Frank Stern and sisters Helen Bender, Rose Marie Miller, Mary Ellen Sipe and Alice Leazier. Survived by children Arlene married to Robert Yutzy, Springs; Larry married to Carol (Inman) Stern, Berlin and Elaine married to Charles Finui, Myrtle Beach, SC; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Ernest married to Gloria (Chronowski) Stern, Quecreek and Marlin married to Emily (Livingston) Stern, Davidsville. Herb was carpenter for over 50 years and a member of Somerset Alliance Church. Viewing from 2-5PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell, where a funeral service will be held 11AM Monday with Rev. Donald Robson presiding.
