Obituary for Carolyn M. "Sis" Telenko (McDaniel)

TELENKO – Carolyn M. “Sis” (McDaniel), 83, passed away unexpectedly September 11, 2019 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born February 5, 1936 in Johnstown. Daughter of Merle W. and Ethel (Webb) McDaniel. Preceded in death by parents and brother Allan “Butch” McDaniel. Survived by loving husband of 64 years Ronald A. Telenko; sons Ronald A. Telenko, Jr. married to Joyce (Godshall), Jerome and Douglas E. married to Barbara (Rayman), Jerome; grandchildren Shannon and husband Steven Hathaway, Holly and husband Jordan Hartzler, Joshua and wife Sherri (Manges), Sarah and husband J.J. Vasilko and Benjamin and girlfriend Karen DiNardo; 8 great-grandchildren whom she absolutely loved and adored with another arriving in January: Willem and Fiona, Brody, Emma and Jake, Blake and Cole and Jillian and her future sister; brother Merle E. McDaniel and friend Billie Lawrence; sister Connie Peck; sisters-in-law Donna McDaniel, Sara Ruth Zwick and Dora Mae Telenko; brother-in-law Thomas Telenko and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A 1954 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School where she was a proud member of the CT Band. Member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville. She was a very good and proud mother who kept an unbelievably clean house. As a family, we aren’t sure what she made best, but her gobs, cabbage rolls, potato salad and pickled eggs were always a huge success at family gatherings. She worked tireless hours at the Jerome Fire Hall bingos for many years, and eventually became an avid bingo player. She also belonged to the Jerome ladies pinochle club for many years with 7 of her best friends. Sis enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s sporting events and programs, knitting and going on casino bus trips. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan. Viewing from 2-6PM Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville where a Vigil for the Deceased will be held 2PM Sunday. Funeral Mass 1PM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Crowe Celebrant. Following cremation, committal Holy Cross Cemetery, Jerome at a later date.
