Obituary for Joseph W. Stevens

STEVENS – Joseph W., 81, Hollsopple, went to be with the Lord October 12, 2019 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born January 12, 1938 in Hollsopple. Son of Jacob J. and Cora R. (Imler) Stevens. Preceded in death by parents, brothers Blair and Jay and sisters Florence Miller and Thelma Hostetler. Survived by wife and the love of his life of 60 years Verna M. (Gindlesperger); daughter Colleen J. married to Mark Moore, Hollsopple; son Dennis J. “Butch” married to Tammy (Price), Hollsopple; grandchildren Melissa married to Matt Yoder, Mike Moore and fiancé Lacey Gaunt, Ashley Price and Brady and Hannah Stevens; great-grandchildren Austin and Ethan Yoder, Taylor Lauren, Finley Michael and Daxton Cole Moore; brothers Owen, Davidsville; Harry married to Helen (Mortimer), Minneapolis, MN and Ray married to Ruth (Lehman), Hollsopple and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1957 graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. Joe was a former coal miner. He enjoyed golfing and was former co-owner and operator of the public golf course at Indian Lake and Timberlink Golf Course in Ligonier. Member of Kantner United Methodist Church. Joe enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Viewing from 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10AM until time of service 11AM Tuesday at Kantner United Methodist Church with Pastor Rich Pearson presiding. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown.
