Margaret R. "Margie"  Hemminger (Shaffer)
HEMMINGER – Margaret R. “Margie” (Shaffer), 93, formerly of Jenner Township, died July 29, 2014, at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born Feb. 16, 1921, in Jenner Township, daughter of William W. Sr. and Mary B. (Berkey) Shaffer. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 63 years, Richard, on July 4, 2004; brothers, Paul, William Jr. and Lee; and sisters, Lois Lohr, Daryle Bittner and Helen DeArmey. Survived by daughter, Mary Ann Hemminger, Somerset; sister, Florence Rose-Sofaly, Somerset; and brother, Robert Shaffer, and wife, Gloria, Johnstown. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Had been an active member of former St. James Lutheran Church and was a current member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Margie was born and raised on the family farm and after her marriage continued farming with her husband, Richard. The family would like to thank the staff of Meadow View for caring above and beyond Margie’s needs. Viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell, where service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Pastor Larry C. Hoover, officiating. Interment, St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., Suite E201, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222, or Laurel Trinity Church, P.O.
