Ruth E.  Lohr (Emerick)
LOHR – Ruth E. (Emerick), 88, Penn Avenue, Jenner Township, died Aug. 2, 2014, at In Touch Hospice House, Somerset. Born Oct. 28, 1925, in Shippleystown, Somerset County, daughter of Joseph W. and Mabel E. (Shumaker) Emerick. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 61 1/2 years, Lloyd Hilton Lohr, on Dec. 12, 2005; sister, Kathleen “Kay” Speigle; and brother, Robert. Survived by children, Greg, married to Gloria Turner, Jenner Township; Carolyn, married to Carl Sanner, Somerset; and Kenneth, married to Deborah MacDonald, Jenner Township; grandsons, Mark Lohr and Brian Sanner; sister, Jean Manning, Somerset; sister-in-law, Barbara Emerick, Jenner Township; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graduate of former Boswell High School. Member of Zion Hoffman Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Seventh Society of Farm Women. Owned and operated a dairy farm with husband, Hilton, for many years. The farm continues to be operated by son, Kenneth. Ruth also worked at a war production plant during World War II and later at area garment factories. Ruth enjoyed baking, cooking and time with her family. Viewing from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon Wednesday at Zion Hoffman Church, Hoffman Church Road, Jenner Township, Pastor David L. Bowman officiating. Interment, church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hoffman Church, Box 98, Boswell, Pa. 15531 would be appreciated. Arrangements in charge of Hoffman Funeral Home, Boswell. Flowers may be delivered directly to the church Tuesday afternoon until 4 p.m. or prior to visitation Wednesday morning.
