James F.  Beener
BEENER – Atty. James F., 68, Boswell, died suddenly Aug. 15, 2015, at Somerset Hospital. Born Sept. 20, 1946, in Somerset, son of Robert F. Beener and Winifred E. (Swope) Beener-MacDonald. Preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Malcolm A. “Scott” MacDonald; and brothers, Robert L. Beener and Scott W. MacDonald. Survived by wife of 46 years, Judith (Cooper) Beener; son, Joshua, married to Kara (Johnson) Beener, Greensburg; daughter, Kathryn Beener, at home; grandchildren, Geonna Mercedes Sutton and Landon James Beener; sister, Deborah E. (MacDonald), married to Kenneth L. Lohr, Jenner Township; and sisters-in-law, Susan Andrade, Cambridge, Mass., and Tracey A. (Reed) MacDonald, Jennerstown. A 1964 graduate of Jenner-Boswell High School. Also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Michigan Law School. A partner with the law firm of Barbera, Clapper, Beener, Rullo and Melvin, Somerset, and a member of the Somerset County Bar Association. Past board president of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and current board president of the Somerset County Library. Member of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown, where he was council president and parliamentarian for the Lutheran Synod Assembly. Jim also was active in many other local civic organizations and was an avid golfer. Viewing from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. No viewing at the funeral home. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with Pastor Traci Bowman, presiding. Interment, Mount Zion Cemetery.
