Obituary for Alice Jean Krope

Alice Jean  Krope
KROPE – Alice Jean (Schnabel), 90, a longtime resident of Moonlite Park, Conemaugh Township, Somerset County and for the past six years a resident of Laurelwood Apartments, Westmont, died September 10, 2016 at the home of her beloved son, Daniel, in Elizabethtown. Born May 14, 1926 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late James and Alice (Glitch) Schnabel. Preceded in death by husband James F. Krope, Sr. on March 14, 2010, granddaughter Leah, sisters Marion Girard and Dorothy Krider and brother Carl. Survived by children James F., Jr. married to Jenine (Pigte), Anderson, SC; Susan married to Daniel Roseman, Nazareth and Daniel, Elizabethtown; grandchildren Joseph, Jonathan, Jordan, Matthew, Jamie, Benjamin, Stevi and Samantha and numerous great grandchildren. At the early age of 8, she learned to dance from Gene Kelly in his Johnstown Studio. A 1944 graduate of Johnstown High School. She was an avid ice skater for many years. In her teens, she had an audition with the Ice Capades. Prior to marriage, she was employed by Craftsman Insurance Agency in Johnstown. A former member of the Johnstown Symphony Chorus. Longtime member of Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and was a member of the choir. A viewing will be held from 11AM until time of service 1PM Thursday at Laurel Hill Gospel Tabernacle, 7415 Somerset Pike, Boswell, PA 15531, with Rev. Gary W. Anderson presiding. Interment Maple Spring Cemetery, near Jerome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster County, 685 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601.
