A 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School. Peter served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from December 3, 1943 to April 21, 1945 in the Pacific Theater where he participated in the occupation of Vella Lavella Island. A foreman in the car shop of Bethlehem Steel Corp., Johnstown having retired in 1982. He retired early in order to help his wife Cora care for their daughter Brigid, who suffered from encephalitis as a young child and needed 24 hour care. He was a devoted and generous father to his children and grandchildren. Peter was one of the original homeowners in Belmont and helped many neighbors with the building of their homes. He was instrumental in the construction of the Belmont playground for the children of the area. He loved to golf, fish and garden and produced bushes of vegetables, especially tomatoes, which he proudly distributed to neighbors and friends. The amusing part of the tomato story was that he hated tomatoes and never ate one. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him for his quick wit. He always had something engaging to say to make you laugh. His family feels extremely fortunate to have had him in their lives for so long and will sadly miss him.
