Bamboozled by Grandma

A few years back, Grandma was beginning to slow down and had a moment of confusion here or there which had everyone concerned.  Shortly after Easter that year the kids and I stopped up to visit her. As we were getting ready to leave and giving and receiving "a love", she tried to give the kids some chocolates from her ever present bowl of Hershey candies.  I politely declined the candy, telling her that we had a ton of candy at our house left over from Easter.  She gave me her disappointed look, but then asked me if I would run downstairs to her freezer to get some gobs out for the bible study group that evening.  Feeling so good that I could help my sweet Grandma, I went downstairs to get the gobs.  When I came back, I handed her the gobs and gave her a final hug and "love you".  As I was backing out of the driveway, my kids revealed the stash of candy Grandma had slipped each of them when she sent me on her little errand.  Never one to argue, she just got rid of me for a moment and then overuled my decision.  I laughed the entire way down the driveway and after stealing all of the good dark chocolates from their stash for myself, I let them enjoy  their "Grandma Candy".  She was smart, savy, and most of all loving.   I will forever cherish her for her love, generosity, and wisdom.  I am so incredibly thankful that my three children got to know her and experience her love.
