Driven

I did not frequently hang out with Mike or talk to him on a regular basis, but I felt compelled to share my story. I first encountered Mike at church. He always sat there with those two little adorable kids with red hair. Arms around them, smiling, always looking so happy and so proud. Time had passed and I didn't recognize those two small children anymore...I ran into Mike again just this year at Basketball practice. My son who had been a dedicated wrestler, turned to basketball this year. Sitting at practices I noticed Mike with the 5th and 6th graders coaching and cheering on the boys. I couldn't figure out why he was there. Then I saw that small little boy that I once watched in church walk out the doors with Mike after practice. He had raised to beautiful children and one very talented basketball player! Over the course of the basketball season Mike and I would say hello and ask how things were going. Aside from his lack of hair, nothing would've ever indicated to me that he was sick. He was so strong, so DRIVEN, and never once showed any ounce of irritability, or frustration with what he was dealing with inside. It wasn't until I started seeing prayer requests for him on facebook that I became knowledgeable of what he was really dealing with. Not one interaction that I had with him ever indicated to me that he was so far into this sickness, that this would be the result. I pray for Mike and his two beautiful children and loving wife, for they have lost a very strong, proud and motivated husband/father. Although I didn't know him as well as many others, I will not forget the impression that he made in my life. Count every blessing, don't constantly whine and be negative, wear love, happiness and faith on your face, life is precious and you never know when it will be taken! Rest In Peace Mike. May God Bless you and your family!!!
